When you ask for forgiveness, do you ask because you are truly sorry for what you need to be forgiven for? Or are you just asking for forgiveness to look good to others, and to feel free of guilt?
Some ask for forgiveness and then go right out and do the harm again.
Someone had once told me that if they don't go to Church on Sunday, then they don't feel forgiven because they live in sin all week???? In other words, this person felt that it was alright to sin because every Sunday Mass washed away their weekly dirty work.
Asking for forgiveness or going to Church is not what I believe that God would like for us to do just so we feel good about ourselves.
Asking for forgiveness is because we are going to go forward with our lives, because we need Gods help as we struggle against the odds and change our behavior to do good and do no more harm to others.
We ask for forgiveness so that we can have a new start in doing good.
