Do you have money saved for a rainy day?
For many reasons, many feel that they cannot save for a rainy day. Many think of how the cost of living is so high nowadays, and believe it impossible for anyone to even consider saving. For many, it is debt that is keeping peoples hard earned money hostage. The debt comes in many forms; mortgage, schooling, hospital bills, HOA, Mello-Roos, service bills, credit card bills...the list is endless. Some debt can't be helped. The question is, which debt can be prevented or paid off sooner than later. The first step is to find the resolve, the positive attitude needed to face the necessary challenges to try and get out of debt and live a free life without all the bills. Work to enjoy life, not just to have all the stuff that only keeps you in debt. What is your debt? Is it more then just buying new things? Are you paying for those new things on credit? Some may weigh that they are bargain shoppers, but if you cannot pay the credit card bills in full as they come, is it not like paying more on that great deal? Credit cards seem to offer free loans on the spot. They are like magic little plastic cards that opens up a way to own before you pay in full. But that magic is an illusion because credit must be paid back, and that credit can be the cause of it's holder loosing everything if the money is not eventually paid off. Everyone loves shopping for new things, searching for the next perfect addition to our personal collection of must haves. This isn't a bad thing, having nice things. The question is, how much stress do these pretty new things add to our daily lives? Has finding something needed become more like searching for a needle in a haystack? Has dressing become a chore because your closet has become a mayhem of clothing, filled with mostly unused articles? Has a surprise visit from a family member or friend become an embarrassment? Has finding a spot for that new item become more and more difficult? Has house cleaning become more of a chore? Has all those must haves become a burden on your finances? What may help pay off all or most of those bills? If you own your own home, you may want to downsize. If you don't own a house and are renting, you may want to move to a home or apartment that rents for less. If your current home or condo has HOA fees, and/or Mello-Roos, etc. perhaps moving to a new residence without HOA and/or Mello-Roos, etc. dues can save you money. This one may help even if your home is paid off, because the Mello-Roos, the monthly HOA bill, and/or whatever other fees and dues may still be a requirement. Without all the debt, you may enjoy life more knowing that you are working to live life, not only to see your paycheck vanish like magic each month. You may also discover that not living above your means can mean being able to save a little in your bank for a rainy day. This won't be easy. All you can do is try. You may find that you can live without all that stuff. Who knows, you may find extra time on you hands. Imagine the memories you may make! You may even discover the town you live in, and find yourself surprised at what your town may have to offer. -God Loves All His Children P.S.
