Who are you? Do you know who you really are?
Some people remain who they truly are throughout their daily lives, then there are the many who change their personality so often that not even they know who they have become.
Why? Why can’t a person just be? Why do some have to put on a personality mask so that others will only see lies?
I have known this person for many years, and as of today I am still amazed that each time I see this person with a new group of people, he has a different personality mask on. Not even his family knows who he is, all they can see is his lies.
Being someone you’re not doesn’t make you a better person. Don’t be ashamed of all your likes and dislikes. So long as your interests are good-natured and legal, there is no reason to be ashamed of yourself. If your interests are troublesome or are bad habits, changing yourself into a better person is progressing your character that allows you to grow into a more positive person. If instead of making real changes in your life, you choose to hide behind a personality mask to hide your bad side, it can only lead to trouble. Wearing personality masks means you must live a lie, mounting lies that will never add up to anything meaningful. Learn from your mistakes or embarrassments, be proud that you have overcome any difficulties, and use your past as building blocks for a better future. Your past can come back to haunt you, especially if you’re hiding away from it in shame.
Be yourself. You never know, you just may like the real you.
