Gardening One Of God's Gifts
Did you know that during the Great Depression in the 1930s, - if I'm correct - U.S. President Roosevelt encouraged Americans to start a back yard garden to help with the economic meltdown.
Why not do it again? Start a back yard or balcony garden where you can grow gardens in pots and/or in garden beds. I have posted photos along with this article, so you can see that gardening can be done in pots. Don't know where to begin? Go online, research how-to books, or go to your local garden store to find out how to. You can buy pots made out of safe materials, Organic seeds, and Organic soil, this way when you grow your garden, you'll know what is going into your fruits, herbs, and vegetables. Don't forget to check the seed packets and/or the plant containers for the right planting seasons for each plant. Also remember to research plants that grow and thrive best in your area (Planting Zones). Many cities and towns have restrictions on the days and the amount of time that can be spent on exterior (garden) watering. For those of you who have trouble finding the |

time to water on the days the law allows, find out if it's legal in your area to use those days to fill up water bottles (or watering containers) with your water hose. Later, you can use those water bottles to water your garden on the days you do have time. You can also set up rain catchers barrels.
Note that while water should not be left sitting for too long, because it can become stale, it should also be covered or capped due to mosquitoes.
Also note, that you do not want to over water or you can mildew your plants. Make certain that you have drain holes, and that you put rocks at the base of your pot before the soil to allow drainage.
I'm not sure why, but some in the Los Angeles, CA area are restricted to watering their gardens on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, while others are restricted to Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays. I believe that the second group should be Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays so that both groups have a weekend, since most people are off work on Saturdays and/or Sundays.
Go online to research what your days of watering are, along with the laws and restrictions that governs your neighborhood.
