Freedom in America is why many people come to America.
Yet some of these people that leave their country for America start to make changes! They don't like how Americans are. It seems like the main issue is Americans freedom in religion, so these people try to make changes in our religious freedoms.
Why leave your country and then try to make America like the country you didn't like?
An Example:
Halloween is a time of enjoyment for most Americans.
Halloween has been a celebration here in America for over a century.
Now here in our America there is a school that won't be celebrating Halloween because of some children's religious and/or cultural beliefs won't allow them to take part in Halloween activities. The claim is that it's not fair for these kids to be left out of school activities.
But what about the children who are allowed to celebrate Halloween? It is not fair to keep these kids from celebrating just because of the children who are not allowed to celebrate because of their religious beliefs or for other reasons??
In the end, which group of children truly miss out???? The children who look forward to such celebrations? Or the children who do not celebrate the holiday either way?
I think that these parents, who don't allow Halloween in their lives, should teach their kids that it is OK not to celebrate all holidays, just like some religions don't celebrate Christmas, birthdays, etc...etc...etc... and not take away from those who do celebrate.
With such debates as the one written about in this post, are some teaching children that their surroundings should be perfect for only their beliefs and practices? Are some teaching children that everyone should hide away beliefs and practices? What happens then when these children grow up and are off to college and to work, when they find others who are open to their beliefs and practices.
We live in a country made up of so many who are from different religions and cultural backgrounds. I have always questioned the problem some people have with one another due to holidays, religious festivities, and cultural practices.
As long as no living thing is being harmed, no destruction to property is being made, no danger is involved, and no laws are broken, why can't people simply enjoy?
Everyone should simply enjoy and try to find beauty and fun in another's celebrations. It is not necessary to make the holiday your own, or even join in on the celebrating.
Demanding religious freedoms, means to give religious freedoms and not stop others from celebrating what they believe in.
